About Us
WHO WE ARE
A More Personal Approach to Residential Care
Choosing a home for someone you love requires more than comparing services. Families want to understand the environment, the approach to care and the people who will be supporting their loved one.
Sunrise Hills AFH is a residential Adult Family Home in Tumwater, Washington, created around the belief that quality care should remain personal.
An Adult Family Home provides a residential setting where residents can receive personal and special care, room and board in a smaller home environment. Washington's rules emphasize dignity, resident choice, quality of life and a safe, clean, comfortable and homelike environment.
Our goal is to create an environment where residents receive appropriate support while continuing to experience respect, comfort and personal attention.
Our Mission
To provide personalized residential care that respects each person's dignity, supports everyday well-being and creates reassurance for the families who entrust us with their loved ones.
Our Vision
To create a trusted Adult Family Home where compassionate support, personal attention and the comfort of home come together for residents and their families.

A caring environment must also be attentive to residents’ wellbeing and everyday needs.
OUR FOUNDER
Dr. Joyce W. Kamande, DNP-ARNP, PMHNP-BC
Sunrise Hills AFH is led by Dr. Joyce W. Kamande, DNP-ARNP, PMHNP-BC. Her professional identity provides an important foundation for the thoughtful, person-centered philosophy behind Sunrise Hills AFH.
Leadership in residential care is more than overseeing a home. It is about helping establish a culture where people are treated with dignity, listened to with respect and supported as individuals.
At Sunrise Hills AFH, that philosophy informs the way we think about care: not simply as a list of tasks, but as an opportunity to support comfort, routine, connection and quality of life.
Families deserve to know that the home they are considering takes their concerns seriously. Our approach is grounded in thoughtful communication, respect for individual needs and a commitment to creating a welcoming residential environment.
