Assistance With Daily Living

Centered on Dignity

Everyday routines can become more challenging when a person needs additional support. Daily Living at Sunrise Hills AFH focuses on appropriate assistance while respecting the resident's dignity, preferences and abilities.

Activities of daily living can include personal-care activities such as bathing, dressing, getting in and out of a bed or chair, walking, toileting and eating. Washington DSHS uses ADL terminology in its Adult Family Home guidance.

Our approach is not about taking away independence. Where appropriate, support can help residents participate in familiar routines while receiving assistance with tasks identified as needs.

The level and type of support should be based on the individual resident's needs and applicable care planning. The goal is to make everyday life feel more manageable, respectful and comfortable.
